Glad Tidings: Good News for Christmas is the title of the St. James School and Parish 2011 offering of the annual Celebration of Advent and Christmas music and song. The afternoon of seasonal music features many exciting voices, brilliantly led by lyric coloratura soprano, Christina Holms, and Eric Barry, who replaced Roberto Iarussi that was unable to sing for the event.

Christina Holms's vocal brilliance has been enthusiastically received by audiences in the U.S. and in Europe. In 2007, she performed with Roberto Iarussi before 800 people at New York's Gracie Mansion at a gala event hosted by Mayor Michael Bloomberg. She has recorded extensively and has appeared as a soloist with the Mendelssohn Choir of Connecticut. Christina has been featured in numerous benefit concerts and private functions, including the two previous St. James Christmas Concerts. She is considered one of the country's finest interpreters of sacred music.

Mr. Eric Barry replaced Roberto Iarussi that was unable to sing for the event.

Douglas Dickson, a faculty member at the Yale School of Music, will accompany Ms. Holms and Mr. Iarussi on piano.

Also featured in the performance will be vocalists Timoney Campbell and Eliza Wiant from St. Paul's Episcopal Church Choir in Fairfield, William Domeika on trumpet and award winning violinist Gwendolyn Howard, as well as The Greens Farms Academy Chamber Choir, under the direction of Betsy Bergeron.

Gwendolyn Howard, a 14-year-old violinist from Westport, CT, is a student at Hopkins School in New Haven and studies privately with legendary violinist, Aaron Rosand. Gwendolyn recently finished ahead all other violinist in the Greater Bridgeport Symphony's 30th Carlson-Horn Young Artists Competition.
St. James School Principal Jim Gieryng is proudly enthusiastic about the event: "Last year's concert was spectacular. The voices and the selections of music brought the spirit of the season to everybody in attendance. I expect an even more wonderful event this year."

The St. James Concert will take place Sunday, December 11, 2011 at 2:30 PM at St. James Church, 2011 Main Street in Stratford. Tickets are available at $5 and can be reserved by calling the St. James School office at 203-375-5994. The modest price includes an "after concert" reception where everyone can "meet and greet" these incredible artists.

Anthony Marchese, producer of the event, said "We wanted to make this musical experience available to everyone, so our sponsors were able to keep the ticket price extremely low. We expect to have an enthusiastic full house at this wonderful event."
